My work is about blurring the boundaries between reality and fantasy in order to explore the construction of beliefs, truths, and other myths. I am interested in how the mind edits what we see and what we want to see, I am interested in why right or wrong is relative to not just the subject, but the one taking the action. I gather information when I travel, around the world or around the corner, I build the landscapes of what I saw, based on memories, emotions and the information gathered. I don’t express the physicality of what I see in front of my eyes, I express the experience, and the experience of creation which is not apart from the environment you are at the time. Ideas and object concatenate to create a whole, a new piece where influence is a big part of it. Things are together it what seems to be random but is just a reflect of our times and the parallelism of events happening. In my work I depict situations with the intention of evoking stories in the spectators. I always try not to be too literal, so spectators have space to discover their own stories. I find evoking stories important because I think our ability to tell them is an essential part of our being. I was born in Uruguay during a dictatorship grow up as a refugee in Spain, became Spanish and now I live between Europe and the USA. My early childhood displacement made a deep impact on my life, so I decided to make the world my home, travelling and freedom (especially the freedom of speech) my priority and the source of inspiration for my work. I have lived life as a foreigner, I have felt perpetually like an outsider. It’s like being a cultural anthropologist, trying to understand the modus operandi of each place, and that is reflected in my work. “I have travel 5 continents and I see people” Sick of violence and selfishness I decided to bring beauty and positivism to my work and to ensure the good guys always win.
